The exhibits have been brought over from St Petersburg for an exposition celebrating the anniversary of the company Sakhalin Energy.
The selection includes fairytale themed works by famous Russian artists such as Konstantin Korovin , Nicholas Roerich, Elena Polenova, Dmitry Streletsky, Ivan Bilibin, Alexey Afanasyev, as well as pictures by Alexei Savrasov, Ivan Shishkin, and Arkhip Kuindzhi.
According to the curator of the exhibition, Galina Kretchina, all of the Museum staff across Russia belong to one family. According to her, the Russian Museum was thrilled to collaborate with their partners in the Far East and the selection includes works not only from the collection, but from the permanent exposition at Russian Museum.
Kretchina explained that the works which have been brought over for the exhibition in Sakhalinsk are of the highest quality — the masters have put their outmost skill and passion into these masterpieces. Furthermore, the Sakhalin Regional Museum features wonderful, well lit, contemporary exhibition spaces which will allow the works to reach their full potential in front of visitors.
In addition to the familiar from childhood illustrations of Russian fairy tales, watercolors by Russian artists, the exhibition will also feature picturesque landscapes by Savrasov, Shishkin, Kuindzhi and Roerich. The exposition is furthermore completed by porcelain exhibits of the Sakhalin Museum.
All of the exhibits from State Russian Museum were transported in compliance with newly enhanced security measures.
The exhibition will open to the public on Saturday, 6 April 2019.
